Centennial Nears Completion of Comprehensive Housing Study Over the past year, the City of Centennial has been conducting a comprehensive housing study aimed at increasing the affordability and diversity of its housing stock. The City is now beginning the evaluation process of what measures should be implemented. These include accessory dwelling units, land banking and inclusionary zoning policies. While Centennial does not have as much developable land and limited long-term growth opportunities for residential construction, the HBA will be staying on top of these types of precedent-setting policy proposals as the City Council begins its implementation process. The HBA will continue to monitor this closely and will be providing our position and analysis of all these proposals once we have had a chance to identify some of the specifics. |

HBA to Conduct Housing Affordability Tour for State and Local Elected Officials On August 11, the HBA of Metro Denver will be organizing a Housing Affordability Bus Tour designed for elected officials interested in learning more about our industry’s commitment to housing attainability. Over the course of the day, we will be traveling by charter bus to three different developments to learn more about the main impediments to housing affordability. By the end of the day, attendees will leave with a good foundational understanding of the major challenges our industry faces when bringing more attainable housing options to market and the innovative solutions builders and developers are implementing to lower costs and improve the quality of life for current and future generations of Coloradans. We are looking forward to showcasing the amazing work our members are doing to elected leaders and providing information about how the public and private sectors can work collaboratively to solve the problem of housing affordability together. |
