In Loving Memory of Dennis L. Marshall Home Building Industry and HBA Legend

February 13, 1943 - February 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that it has been announced the passing of Dennis L. Marshall on February 18, 2025. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many, Dennis was a beacon of strength, wisdom, and love to all who knew him.

Starting from building his own very first house, Dennis embarked on a distinguished career in the Custom Home Building industry. First as a day laborer, then as a carpenter, supervisor, and eventually a partner at Vantage Custom Homes.  He was named president of Vantage and afterwards Marshall Building Enterprises.  Dennis built 100’s of custom homes throughout the Denver Metropolitan area as well as the Rocky Mountains. He was actively involved in the Denver Colorado Home Builders Association (HBA) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Dennis served as the HBA’s President in 1979 and in 1995 he was recognized with a the rarely given Lifetime Achievement Award from the Denver HBA. Throughout his career he received numerous accolades for excellence in custom home building, including being named Builder of the Year. He successfully completed the renovation of the new HBA office in Centennial in 2007.

His dedication, skill, and innovative thinking earned him the respect of his peers. Over the years he made lasting contributions to his field.

Bob Thompson, founder of CTL Thompson states, “I think our first meeting was at a construction site in Idaho Springs. I think about 1968, he had a tool belt and hammer.  I think he may have been supervising framing. I did several jobs for Dennis’ company, Vantage Custom Homes before I started my own company (1971)”. Throughout the years I highly respected Dennis for his professionalism and integrity, and we became lifelong friends.

He will be missed by many and remembered fondly”. ~Roger Reinhardt, Executive Vice President of the HBA from 1986 to 2010.
